glockenblume:
Glocky was not too proud to admit that he was tearing up with nerves and frustration when he couldn’t find Alex in the park right away. God, something was scaring him, going to hurt him… Glocky had to protect him.
Finally - finally - he found his friend and raced over to him.
“Alex! Alex, where is it? What is it? Are you okay?”
Alex had managed to crawl over to a cluster of bushes that mostly hid him from view. He couldn’t be in sight because then they’d find him, all those people - the ones who looked at him - who were obviously just sizing him up - plotting - planning - and then he’d be hurt and dead and gone and nobody would know and nobody would care—
He was so wrapped up in his fear that Glocky’s sudden appearance actually shocked a scream out of him as he scrambled away. Eyes wide with fear, his whole body actually shaking, pathetic pleas for them all to just leave him alone, he was sorry, so sorry, pouring from his mouth.
It wasn’t that he didn’t recognise Glocky, but that he did and the fear that sparked from seeing one of his best friends was worse than that caused by passers-by. If he couldn’t trust Glocky, did that mean he couldn’t trust Mona, or Minion, or anyone?
Glocky crouched down by his side, but thought better of touching him.
