Maybe I should try having a weekend like this.

Let’s do it.

Really?

[:D]

Yeah!

Awesome! Shall we combine all of them with chill with friends? It’s all the easier to report our findings on whether or not this is the perfect weekend!

Sounds like a plan to me!

Oh and talking about parties… Mona, Minion and I are having a Christmas party next week. Well. Sort-of Christmas party. It’s on Christmas Eve.

Do you want to come?

Really? Yeah, I’d love to!

She nodded, smiling awkwardly. “Yes… Tell me about yourself, Alex. Glockenblume has… Selective details to share.”

She’d heard about how her son’s new friend was brilliant and kind of cute and completely awesome, but she knew nothing about his life.

Alex bit down on his lower lip, not sure what to say and what to leave out. This felt like some sort of entrance exam and he desperately wanted to pass.

“I… Well, I… I live - um - a little bit out of the city, in the observatory, with—with my friends. We’re renovating,” he added, hoping that would help with the whole living in an abandoned building thing. “Being independent, you know. Um. I… I have a business. I do repairs and—and invent things, on commission. I… I graduated high shool at nine and got my first college degree at thirteen. Math and engineering, double honours. I… I’ve been thinking about. Um. Going back, too, some time and—and doing a business degree too.”

“Oh! A… A bunch of children living on their own? That hardly seems—”

Moooom,” Glocky groaned, bringing his hand to his forehead.

“No—no, it’s not like that!” Alex cut in, raising his hands. “Really! Mona—” he broke off for a moment, remembering all at once what had brought him here. Deep breath. He couldn’t show anything in front of Glocky’s mother. “…Mona’s in her twenties. She… She’s like… Well, she’s responsible. And so is Minion, my best friend, he’s my age but he’s really mature and he always has been.”

Mrs. Gothel was hesitant, but if there was an adult living with him… And he didn’t seem dangerous… And Glockenblume had a good head on his shoulders. Sometimes. He certainly wouldn’t want to go run off on his own.

She hoped.

“Ah, well… Pleasure to meet you, Alex. I’ll leave you two alone… Glockenblume said you two had something important do to.”

Schoolwork, she assumed. And with that, she was off. Glocky chuckled awkwardly.

“Sorry about her. She… Worries.”

Mrs. Gothel looked up with a start, and for a moment she just stared at the blue boy.

“Oh! You must be Alex… Hello.”

When Mrs. Gothel stared at him, Alex felt himself flush. It was stupid - staring was probably a normal reaction - but he couldn’t help but feel that he was being judged. A freak, an alien, someone she shouldn’t allow her son to hang around with.

“Y—yeah, that’s me,” he replied and tried for a little, shaky laugh. “It’s nice to meet you, Mrs. Gothel.”

She nodded, smiling awkwardly. “Yes… Tell me about yourself, Alex. Glockenblume has… Selective details to share.”

You won’t. I promise.

[And with that, Glocky pulled him into the kitchen, where a nervous-looking, somewhat older woman stood over a pot of boiling water.]

[Alex gulped and then took a deep breath, trying to work out what to say. Doing his best Polite Smile - thank you for that, Mother - he just took the plunge.]

Uh… O—ollo, Mrs Gothel.

Mrs. Gothel looked up with a start, and for a moment she just stared at the blue boy.

“Oh! You must be Alex… Hello.”

[When he got the text back from Glocky, Alex wasted no time in hurrying over to his friend’s house.

As he approached, though, it struck him that maybe he wouldn’t be allowed in. What would his mother think of a blue kid who didn’t live with his parents, who got into trouble, who wasn’t normal? He’d never gotten to meet her the other day, after running into Psycho Delic, so what had Glocky told her?

Stomach in knots, Alex took a deep breath as he walked up to the door and knocked, then flinched back, half-expecting to be attacked by something.]

[And attacked he was… In a sense. Glocky grabbed his arm and pulled him into both the house and a hug.]

I’m so sorry, Alex.

[He wondered who’d had the gall to break the heart of Alex; Alex Awesome Scott. It didn’t matter, though, he couldn’t change it. But he could be there for his friend.]

Come on, my mom’s in the kitchen… She’s been really curious to meet you….

 Ah!

[The hug was unexpected, but it was just what Alex needed at that moment. He eagerly returned it, all but clinging to his friend.]

Th—thanks, Glocky.

[At the mention of Mrs Gothel, Alex paled a little, worried all over again.]

She… She’s not… Mad, is she? About the other day… [He winced just to think of it.] I—I’m sorry. Again. I didn’t - I mean - I just… I’m sorry.

You’re welcome, Alex.

Oh! Oh, gosh, no! She’s just… Well, she’s a little worried, but she’ll love you. Turst me. And you don’t have to apologize. It wasn’t your fault.

[Alex sighs in relief, squeezing Glocky without really thinking about it.]

Awesome. I—I don’t want to screw this up.

[He honestly doesn’t know what he’ll do if Mrs Gothel decides Glocky can’t see him anymore, or anything like that. Even though they haven’t known each other long, Glocky is one of his best friends. Alex feels like he can talk about anything with him.]

You won’t. I promise.

[And with that, Glocky pulled him into the kitchen, where a nervous-looking, somewhat older woman stood over a pot of boiling water.]
